Physiotherapy in Hamilton, ON

Personalized Physiotherapy to Help You Move Better and Live Well

At Paramount Family Chiropractic, our physiotherapy team helps Hamilton patients recover from injury, manage pain, and rebuild strength and movement — with a plan built around your body and your goals, not a generic protocol. Whether you’re dealing with a sports injury, recovering from surgery, working through a workplace or motor vehicle accident claim, or simply want to move without pain, our registered physiotherapists provide hands-on, evidence-based care in a clinic that’s supported Hamilton families since 1992.

As a multidisciplinary clinic, we’re able to combine physiotherapy with chiropractic care, registered massage therapy, and ProAdjuster® technology when it’s useful — so your recovery plan draws on whichever combination of care actually gets you results, rather than being limited to a single discipline.

We see physiotherapy patients from across Hamilton — including Hamilton Mountain, Stoney Creek, and Ancaster — for everything from sports injuries and post-surgical rehab to chronic back pain, WSIB claims, and motor vehicle accident recovery. No referral is required, direct billing is available for most major insurance providers, and appointments can typically be booked within the week.

WHAT IS PHYSIOTHERAPY

What Is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is a healthcare profession dedicated to movement restoration, functional improvement, and long-term physical health.

Using proven assessment methods and treatment techniques, physiotherapists address conditions affecting muscles, joints, nerves, and movement patterns. Care is always personalized to your body, goals, and lifestyle.

What Is Physiotherapy

What Is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy (also called physical therapy) is a regulated healthcare profession focused on restoring movement, reducing pain, and improving function after injury, surgery, or the onset of a chronic condition. Physiotherapists assess how your muscles, joints, nerves, and movement patterns are working together, then build a treatment plan combining hands-on manual therapy, targeted exercise, and education.

Unlike a one-size-fits-all exercise sheet, physiotherapy in Hamilton at our clinic starts with a full assessment of your specific injury or condition, your goals, and your day-to-day demands — whether that’s returning to a sport, getting back to work after a WSIB claim, or simply being able to play with your kids without pain.

Physiotherapists in Ontario are regulated by the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario, which means your treatment is held to the same professional and ethical standards as any other regulated health profession. That regulation matters when you’re choosing where to go for care — it’s the difference between a licensed clinician managing your recovery and an unregulated “fitness” approach to injury.

Harneet Somal, MScPT — Registered Physiotherapist. Harneet holds a Master of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Toronto and an Honours Bachelor of Kinesiology from Wilfrid Laurier University. She’s rostered in spinal manipulation, acupuncture, and dry needling, with a focus on sports and strength-based injuries, and provides care in English and Punjabi.

Both are fully licensed, registered physiotherapists — not assistants or trainers — which means your assessment, diagnosis, and treatment plan are handled by a regulated healthcare professional from your very first visit.

Whether you’re recovering from an injury, managing a chronic condition, or aiming to improve your physical performance, physiotherapy provides personalized care to help you move better and live well.

Conditions We Treat

Conditions Our Physiotherapists Treat in Hamilton

We see patients of all ages for a wide range of injuries and conditions, including:

  • Sports injuries — sprains, strains, ligament injuries, and overuse injuries from running, hockey, soccer, and other sports
  • Post-surgical rehabilitation — structured recovery plans following orthopedic surgery
  • Back pain, sciatica, and disc-related pain
  • Neck pain, whiplash, and posture-related discomfort
  • Shoulder pain, rotator cuff injuries, and frozen shoulder
  • Workplace injuries and WSIB claims
  • Motor vehicle accident (MVA) injuries, including whiplash and soft tissue trauma
  • Arthritis and joint pain, including knee and hip osteoarthritis
  • Balance, dizziness, and vestibular disorders
  • Plantar fasciitis and other foot and ankle conditions
  • Tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow, and other repetitive strain injuries

Each of these conditions gets its own tailored treatment plan — built during your initial assessment and adjusted as you progress.

Sports Physiotherapy in Hamilton

Whether you’re a weekend athlete or competing at a higher level, sports physiotherapy focuses on getting you back to your sport safely — and reducing the chance of re-injury. Our physiotherapists assess movement patterns, strength imbalances, and mechanics specific to your sport, then build a rehabilitation program that progresses from pain management through strength and conditioning to a safe return to play. This is a common focus area for Harneet Somal, who works with strength and sport-related injuries regularly.

Vestibular & Balance Physiotherapy

Dizziness, vertigo, and balance problems can come from the inner ear, the neck, or a combination of both — and they respond well to targeted physiotherapy. Vestibular physiotherapy uses specific assessment techniques and guided exercises to retrain the balance system, reduce dizziness, and lower fall risk. If you’ve been told your vertigo is “just something you live with,” a vestibular-focused physiotherapy assessment in Hamilton is often the missing step.

Shoulder Physiotherapy

Shoulder pain — whether it’s a rotator cuff strain, frozen shoulder, or pain that’s crept in from years of desk work — is one of the most common reasons patients book a physiotherapy assessment with us. Treatment typically combines manual therapy to restore joint mobility with a progressive strengthening program for the rotator cuff and surrounding muscles, so the shoulder doesn’t just feel better temporarily but holds up under normal daily and athletic demands.

Back Pain & Sciatica Physiotherapy

Low back pain and sciatica are two of the most common reasons Hamilton patients seek out physiotherapy, and they don’t always come from the same source — disc irritation, joint stiffness, and muscular guarding can all produce similar symptoms. Your physiotherapist will assess which structures are involved before building a plan, which usually combines manual therapy to reduce irritation with core and hip strengthening to take pressure off the lower back long-term.

Post-Surgical Rehabilitation

Recovering from orthopedic surgery — knee replacement, ACL reconstruction, rotator cuff repair, or spinal surgery — goes better with a structured, staged rehabilitation plan rather than generic exercises. Our physiotherapists coordinate with your surgeon’s protocol where one exists, guiding you through each phase of healing.

Neck Pain & Whiplash Physiotherapy

Neck pain from poor posture, sleeping awkwardly, or a whiplash injury after a car accident responds well to a combination of manual therapy and targeted exercise, along with correcting the postural habits that let neck pain become a recurring problem.

Treatment Approach

Our Physiotherapy Treatment Approach

Depending on your assessment, your physiotherapy plan may include:

  • Manual therapy — hands-on joint mobilization and soft tissue release to restore normal movement and reduce pain
  • Customized therapeutic exercise programs, progressed week to week as your strength and tolerance improve
  • Posture and movement education so the habits that contributed to your injury don’t bring it back
  • Acupuncture and dry needling to reduce muscle tension and support pain relief
  • Spinal manipulation, for physiotherapists rostered to provide it, when joint mobility is a factor
  • Modalities such as heat, cold, or electrotherapy to manage pain and inflammation alongside active treatment
  • Functional rehabilitation strategies tied specifically to your work, sport, or daily activities

The goal isn’t just short-term relief — it’s addressing why the injury happened in the first place, so it’s less likely to come back.

WSIB & MVA

WSIB & Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) Physiotherapy

If you’ve been injured at work or in a car accident, physiotherapy is a covered, recognized part of recovery — and navigating the paperwork shouldn’t get in the way of your treatment. Our team works directly with WSIB claims and MVA insurance to help coordinate your care, handle documentation, and keep your recovery plan moving without you having to manage the process alone.

For WSIB claims specifically, our physiotherapists provide the functional reporting your case manager needs to track your recovery and your return-to-work plan. For MVA cases, we coordinate with your insurer and, where needed, with your chiropractor or massage therapist on the same file.
